Instead of us trying to 'solve' the problem for people we MUST direct folk back to the base: FAITH. I have said time and time again, no matter where I stand in the theology of Christianity, faith will NEVER leave me. Never. My momma instilled that. Can't get rid of it.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I had a philosophy professor at the University of Maryland who didn't believe in or practice any religion, but he said he knew there was something at work in the Universe. Like LC, he knew there was Something within him and that is what kept him going in life. He couldn't name the Something, he just knew It existed. I was the only black student in the class. I had grown up in an all black world and was terrified. He made it a point to look out for me. When he announced his spiritual belief to the class, I was the only one who understood. I got it instantly - it made complete sense. Everyone else was totally upset with him and let him know it. Sadly, I no longer remember his name, but I give him credit for being the first to open my mind to what I believe is a more accurate understanding of life outside of the human box. Faith in the Something Within will forever ring true for me.
