Every week I look for something to emotionally shake me up. Something that I hope if shared with those who read my commentaries will enjoy and appreciate. On occasion these dissertations of feelings morph into rants - but I like to describe them as truth that bleeds.To help diversify my writings I decided, with suggestive criticism, to search for inspiration via the news. Surprisingly, I have not come up short. Day after day. Month after month, I have been successful at filling the body of an email with stories that I simply describes as Touching, Truly Touching.
Well, this week after only three days I have been blessed. The blessing came in the form of something unattractive. Something I would have never thought could lift my spirits. That thing is/was in the form of a double-chinned white woman. This drastically unassuming woman has blown my mind. She definitely was not a person I would have stopped to chat with. I would have rudely passed her on the street just like the majority of us Americans and Europeans. And, why would we have walked on by? Because she is not what our cultures have labeled as pretty.
Hopefully, the YouTube video you are about to watch (along with 8 million plus people from around the world) will give you a lift, challenge you to re-think the characteristics you have attached to beauty, and encourage you to just give someone (a random person) a chance despite their looks.

ReplyDeleteWhat's up Eugene! That was wonderful! Did you see how the audience was looking? It is really sad that we live in such a cruel, judgmental world. I was always told that beauty comes from within (from the heart) and it is also in the eyes of the beholder. I know you've crossed the path of some very pretty females and explored the possibility of a relationship. I'm also willing to bet that once you got to know some of those "pretty" females you realized that they were not so pretty on the inside (due to a nasty attitude etc).
It takes more than looks to move me........I need a beautiful heart as well.&nbs p; A person needs to have some substance, you cannot survive in this world on looks alone. I have to agree with you............society needs to look deeper into a persons character.

ReplyDeleteYou are so right. I have come across so many 'pretty' women in my lifetime - but several of them were ugly on the inside. Just mean. Bad attitude! Not sure where a lot of the ugliness came from. However, once it was detected I should have moved on. I am all for being there for people - but I spent too much time with a few of these women out of my own insecurity. The Ugliness Within.
I ain't now psychiatrist! A few of these women may be saying that I WAS CRAZY.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the video of the British woman singing. I had seen parts of it on the news but had not seen it all. I had no idea how powerful the lyrics were. I agree with you, it was heart warming.

ReplyDeleteShe has talent. According to one of the judges who was on CBS today, there is another contestant, a male, who is also outstanding. I hope this lady wins and will be able to sing before the Queen.
